On 13 May, 2026, Celtic faced Motherwell at Fir Park. Celtic won the match on a penalty scored by Kelechi Iheanacho in the 100th minute, making the final score 3-2 in favor of Celtic. Had Celtic lost this game, Hearts would have been crowned champions. On 16 May, 2026, Celtic faced Hearts at Celtic Park for a title decider. Hearts had spent 250 days at the top of the Scottish Premiership table before the match against Celtic.
Celtic won by a score of 3-1 after two goals in the final minutes of the game from Daizen Maeda and Callum Osmand, being crowned the champions of the Scottish Premiership for the 2025-26 season, and their fifth consecutive league title. Excluding post-season playoffs in 1891 and 1905, it was only the third time the Scottish championship had been decided between the two contenders directly on the final matchday, after 1965 (also involving Hearts) and 1991.
