F.C. Internazionale Milano endured another desperate season, in which it was nowhere close to winning its first league title since 1989. Argentinian coach Héctor Cúper was handed funds to sign several new players in the pre-season, but to finance these transfers he had to sell Hernán Crespo tonouveau riche Chelsea, leaving Christian Vieri completely without a strike partner.
