Roma was rejuvenated in Carlo Mazzone's second season as coach in the 1994/95 season, due to Abel Balbo being the goal scorer it had lacked for the previous years. The summer signings of 1994 helped, with internationally recognized players Jonas Thern and Daniel Fonseca joining the club from rivals Napoli.
The club finished 5th in Serie A, 1 point behind AC Milan, and made it to the Quarter-final of the Copa Italia.
