The team started the season with Antonio Conte as coach. After finishing in first place the previous Serie A season, Juventus qualify directly into the group stage of the 2012–13 UEFA Champions League. The Bianconeri officially started their season on 12 July with pre-season training sessions at Châtillon.

Players who took part in the Euro 2012 joined later after a short break. The squad's first official pre-season friendlies took place at the annual Trofeo Tim tournament, the traditional three-way friendly tournament featuringDerby della Madonnina Milan and Internazionale. Juventus kicked off the season with a 4–2 over Napoli in the 2012 Supercoppa Italiana and a 2–0 against Parma on the opening matchday of the new season.
